Cornea
The cornea is the clear front of the eye and bends the light.
Retina
a thin layer of light-sensitive cells at the back of the eye to convert the light signals to neural signals
Optic nerve
Sends the visual information from the retina to the vision
Pupil
The pupil is the black hole in the centre of the iris
Lens
Focuses the light at the back of the eye to form sharp images on the retina
Vitreous humour
Clear and colourless liquid that fills the eye to give the spherical shape
Iris
a ring-shaped muscle that controls the size of the pupil and the amount of light that enters the eye
Blind spot
Where the optic nerve enters the eye. There is no retina, so no light is converted to a signal at that point.
Ciliary muscle
can contract or relax to change the shape of the lens. For distant objects, the lens needs to be flatter so the muscles relax. For close objects, the lens needs to be more curved, so the muscles contract.
