Right Ventricular Failure

Front

Causes: peripheral edema, volume overload, LV failure, PA HTN, mitral stenosis, blocked vena cava.

Back

diastolic heart failure

Front

the inability of the heart to pump sufficiently because of an alteration in the ability of the heart to fill. Due to resistance to filling of the ventricle.

Back

signs of lymphedema

Front

slow onset, progressive, pitting in early stages, starts distally, squaring of toes(stemmer's sign is positive), buffalo hump on dorm of foot, loss of ankle contour, asymmetric if bilateral. CELLULITIS. rarely painful.

Back

treatment of lymphedema

Front

complete decongestive therapy, pneumatic compression pump, surgery, compression garments, medications.

Back

Zone of Apposition

Front

area of attachment between the diaphragm and the ribcage. Left side tends to have worse ZOP due to heart taking up space.

Back

Left Ventricular Heart Failure

Front

Causes: CAD, HTN, aortic valve stenosis, cardiomyopathy, congenital defects. Signs: SOB, dyspnea, orthopnea, tachycardia, early fatigue, wheezing, cough, cyanosis, pulmonary edema.

Back

Lymphedema Stages

Front

stage 0- swelling not evident but some report heaviness Stage 1 - Reversible Stage 2- Spontaneously irreversible, protein rich fluid, fibrotic tissue. Stage 3- Lymphostatic Elephantiasis. protein rich fluid, connective and scar tissue, hardening of dermal tissues, papillomatosis.

Back
