The comparison of two quantities by division.
Linear Parent Function
y=x
Proportion
An equation that states that two ratios (fractions) are equal
Slope-Intercept Form
Form of linear equation where m = slope and b = y-intercept.
Exponential Decay
A situation modeled with a function of the form y=ab^x and 0 < b < 1.

An inequality in two variables whose graph is a region of the coordinate plane that is bounded by a line. Each point in the shaded region is a solution.

Also called roots, zeros or x-intercepts
Negative Correlation
The relationship between two sets of data, in which one set of data decreases as the other set of data increases.
Exponential function
A function that repeatedly multiplies an initial amount by the same positive number. y=ab^x
Vertex
The minimum or maximum values of quadratic functions. The axis of symmetry intersects the parabola at that point.
No Correlation
There does not appear to be a relationship between two sets of data
Positive Correlation
The relationship between two sets of data in which both sets of data increase together.
Quadratic Function
A function of the form y=ax^2+bx+c. Shape is a parabola (U-shaped curve) that opens up or down.
Asymptote
A line that the graph of a function gets closer to as x or y gets larger but never touches
Linear function
A function whose graph is a line. Same as Linear Equation.
y-intercept
The y coordinate of a point where the graph crosses the y-axis.
Direct Variation
Linear function defined by an equation y=kx where k is not equal to 0.
Quadratic Equation
an equation with degree of 2
Constant of variation
The nonzero constant "k" in the function y=kx

The line that divides a parabola into two matching halves
