Popliteus Tendinitus:

• Athlete playing tennis feels a sudden pain in the
back of upper calf followed by inability to walk on
the toes.
• Pain described as having been shot or hit on the
back of the knee.

Tennis leg:
Back
• Young female soccer tries to cut to the
opposite direction.
• Large lateral mass (dislocation)
• Not always traumatic.

Patellar dislocation / subluxation:
Back
• Sudden onset w/ Hyperextension / Knee hit
from side.
• Pop + joint swelling
• No weight bearing
• Instability
• Lateral knee pain following sudden
dorsiflexion or plantarflexion injury to
ankle.
• Pain during leg curls (for hamstrings)
• Instability + pain radiating down side of
lower leg.

Proximal Tibial-Fibular subluxation:

• Young boy complaint of insidious onset of anterior
knee pain
• Limping, locks and swells.

Osteochondritis dissecans:

• Young athlete w/ knee pain after blow to
front of tibia w/ knee flexed
• Minimal swelling

PCL:

• Anterior knee pain. NOT traumatic.
• Worse with going up and down steps and
sitting for long periods of time
• painful crepitus when squatting.
