By-line for feature article “#3 in a band of 4 brothers” The chance of a multiple birth of quadruplets in Australia in 2006, the year I was born, was 0.05% of all pregnancies. Twins are exciting, triplets are amazing, but what about quadruplets? Now that was a scary thought for my parents who already had one child at home. Then in a matter of 8 minutes 4 baby boys were born 2 minutes apart and their family instantly became 7. I’m #3 in that band of 4 brothers that offers belonging beyond any other experience a single child could even begin to understand. My life journey is truly unique, yet I wouldn’t be who I am today without being a quadruplet, and for that, I’m proud.

In 2006 when I was born, there were about 3,500 recorded sets of quadruplets in the world, a total of only 14,000 people who can call themselves a quadruplet. As part of this rare group, I want to share with you my exclusive quad story. It’s a journey where no chapter is linear but begins with one single step. Along the way I will try to answer that question I often get asked: “Do you ever get tired of being seen as one of four?”
